Description

This course introduces the role of a bookkeeping professional and the activities that the role entails. The course equips you with the knowledge and skills to develop a journal and ledger process, compile statutory documentation for VAT purposes, as well as payroll functions, and to construct pre-adjusted and post-adjusted trial balances. You will also learn how to apply and perform a reconciliation, which is part of the process to balance books.

Subject Matter Expert

Samiah Fakier studied a B.Com Accounting Degree at UCT and completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting at UCT in 2011. She is currently a manager in an International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) technical position where she assists audit teams and clients, and trains them on the latest amendments and upcoming IFRS standards. After completing her articles and qualifying as a Charted Accountant, Samiah knew she wanted to teach and assist through lecturing. Her goal is to ultimately lecture at a higher education institution and assist students making their way through their accounting journey.

You will be required to be familiar with using a computer as you may need to be able to read and download documents in Adobe PDF Reader, view Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, and read and create documents in Microsoft Word.
